I was only very recently diagnosed (28 November 2007) and at 31am on the older side for a Type 1. Dealing with the medication (injections etc) has strangely been the easiest. The hardest is how people, friends and family, now see and treat me. They either pretend that nothing has happened or they go the opposite way and are constantly asking me are you OK or should you be doing / eating that, have you had your medication! At 31 I am very independant and the constant pressure from everyone around me is starting to wear out my patience. Don't get me wrong I do value the concern but am struggling for a way to tell them to back off without hurting any feelings.
