As a type 2 diabetic I am aware that the right food and exercise can lower my blood glucose levels significantly. I was diagnosed last year (BG 378) and got it down to reasonable levels rather quickly by eating healthily and exercising.

For the past few weeks I have exercised close to none, and I have eaten too many carbohydrates. (however, I still never eat desserts etc)

Today I ate a big hotdog and a double-malt beer, and three hours later my BG was 268.
So I decided to lower it by exercising, and got into my suit and did a few push ups and abdominals, and then jumped on the gym bike for a good strong 35 minute "ride".

Right after having done the 35 minutes, the BG was down to 108, and 30 minutes after having stopped it was down 96.

I know everybody reacts differently to food and exercise, but I had forgotten how effective it is for me.

Hi guys

I am a relatively new T2 diabetic, 91 kg, 181 cm high, and at diagnosis 105kg (ideal 80 kg (BMI says max 78kg)

My  fasting reading at diagnosis was 325 mg/dl. After eliminating pasta, postatoes, sweet stuff and bread, my fasting BG was 130 after 7 weeks.

Now my morning readings are 140-165, and some afternoons is 105-120, but avg around 130.

But 2 hours after eating a normal lunch or dinner (only fish, vegetables, no bread or other carbs) it can be 180.

Sometimes (evening) I go to eat a normal pizza, and drink 2-3 glasses of red wine, and the next morning the BG is max 105 mg/dl.

Confused?
Yes!!!!

Hi all,

And once again thank you all for your support.
I launched the site yesterday and we are already seeing a lot of activity.
(Thanks for your special support Kerri; http://www.diabetesfriends.net/sixuntilme/)

I am thinking about installing a Wikipedia section on the site. Not just a page on the famous Wikipedia.org but a full Wiki section here on our own domain.

I was wondering is any of you would be interested in contributing with content to our diabetes Wiki.

Please contact me if you are interested:

Thanks
Jens
