Type 1...Addison's

My name is Rick and I have had Diabetes for a little over 2 1/2 years diagnosed at age 31. Needless to say it was earth shattering! I did my best to grin and bear it with little to know options available to me.

It took almost six months to even get to a place of acceptance but have always tried to be vigilant and pro-active about doing my part to manage my Diabetes care. There have been wins and I have been defeated, but generally have had a healthy outlook on whats to come.

I empathize for everyone who is a Type 1 because I know exactly the frustration and anxiety that it causes. I went to my "Endo" last week and we have discovered that I have Addison's Disease & Hashimoto's Disease (under-active Thyroid) they are both auto-immune disorders.

I'm adjusting and re-learning what to do and not to do having ups and downs...mostly up's in the form of elevated BG numbers. I'm at a place where I think I can only take so much and hope & pray that there are no more surprises to come. I have a smart & beautiful totally supportive finance who is my type 3...along with a great family.

I'm about to start on the Omnipod whats the the story on it Yes or No...they all suck right?I look forward to learning and getting a better sense of what my "Dlife" peers are going thru. Good Luck Family!!!

If exercise and my medication are the answer then I will not fight them only embrace them and do what I can to help manage this condition. As for the constant anxiety and stress..."One Bite at A Time"

Hey I don't know much about the Omnipod but I also have Hashimoto's and Type 1. That must have been very disrupting to be diagnosed with T1 in your 30s and having to change everything then add on Addison's and Hashimoto's :( It sounds like you've got a good outlook on things and good support which is crucial in managing everything. Hang in there!
