How To Deal With Highs

Okay, so you have that awful acetone taste in your mouth... you feel thirsty, headachy, and are busting to pee... Time to test...
set up meter, and prick finger
apply blood to strip
wait 5 seconds, and read E9... damn, not enough blood.
Throw out strip, start again
apply blood to strip, wait 5 seconds
oooooh hell
22.4 mmol/l // 403 mg/dl
stare at screen in disbelief
wash hands, start again
apply blood to strip, wait 5 seconds.
22.6 mmol/l // 407 mg/dl
accept first result as correct
curse, and bolus
stab finger with needle because you are peeved you are so high
curse
decide to test ketones
skull a glass of water on the way to the toilet
pee on strip
damn... moderate
curse again.
Flush toilet, and wash hands.
Drink more water.
Sit down, and try to work out what you could have done to get so high
Curse again.
Drink more water.
Snap and snarl at anyone who speaks to you.
Get over emotional and cry.
Drink more water
Pee again.
Re-test
prick finger, waste another strip.
Curse again.
15.2 // 274
Grab another glass of water...
And go to bed.
