Hi everyone,

My wife is Chinese and has suggested some Chinese remedies to me.  The Chinese are really into herbal healing and things like that.  The first thing she had me try is called Ku Gua.  Some of you may know this as bitter melon or bitter gourd.  She says that if I ate this every day I wouldn't need to take any medication.  I am type 2 diabetic.  This probably would not work for type 1.  The only problem with it is that it lives up to its name.  THis has to be the worst tasting stuff I have ever eaten.  She tells me that you get used to the flavor and eventually it is not bad.  It is also better if you mix it with other food.  It should be available in most Asian food markets but you can not get it at Wal-Mart.  The other thing she has me trying is a fungus called lingzhi.  You can google the name and there is much information about it.  It seems to me that this is something that will cure almost everything.  It is good for prevention and treatment of early stages of cancer.  It is also good for controlling cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar.  She puts a small piece of it in a crock pot and adds water to it to make tea.  I have added some splenda to it and I drink a glass of it every day.  It is too soon to tell if it is helping me but I will post a message if it does seem to be helping.  I will also mention that in Asian food markets there is usually a section of medicinal teas.  It will say on the package which medical condition it should help with.
